Answering Rules

This tab is for managing the call flow when someone calls your user extension. Calls can be routed based on Time, Date, and Activate/Disabled toggles. This tab is also where you go to block numbers from reaching you.

The system goes from top down until it finds a rule that applies to it. The rule with the blue Active next to it is how the calls are currently routing.

When you want to add a rule, click on Add Rule and a window will pop up.

All rules have to have a Time Frame attached to them and only one rule can apply for each one. Time Frames are covered in a separate article.

Enabled just means if the system should use it as a potential rule or ignore it. A Disabled rule will have it labeled in the list so that you can easily tell.

Do not disturb will avoid ringing your phone and send calls directly to your voicemail.

Call screening will allow calls to pass through normally but get the caller's information to you so that you can decide if you want to answer the call or not.

Always will send the call to whatever you put into the field to the right of it. It can be a user, cell phone, voicemail, etc.

On Active will route calls only if your phone is busy on a call already. Good for when you do not want to receive a call while already talking to someone.

When busy will route calls only if all of your call paths are used. *Not really an option*

When unanswered will route calls if you do not answer after the ring timeout has been reached.

When offline will route calls if your phones are not registered with the system. Generally used for emergency failover in the case of a power or internet outage.

Simultaneous ring:

Include user's extension will ring your extension as well as the options you put below

Ring all user's phones will ring all phones attached to your user as well as the options you put below

Answer confirmation for offnet numbers will ask you to press 1 when a call is forward to a cell phone or any number that is not on the system. This is to give you the option of not answering the call if you were unaware of it originating from our system.

The field(s) below these options are other extensions you can have ring. If you want someone's phone to ring if you do not after 2 rings, then you can put there number here and change the timer to 10 seconds. In the example below, 101 and 102 will ring for the entire ring time, however 103-105 will only start ringing after 10 seconds/2 rings.

To add more numbers just click on the plus sign next to the first field. Click on the X to delete numbers you have added.

And lastly Just ring user's extension will do just that. Nothing fancy, just treat the call like a normal call.

It is also possible to allow or block numbers from reaching you.

The ring timer can be adjusted by changing the number in the Ring for X seconds menu on the first screen. Generally, 5 seconds = 1 normal ring time. So a timer of 25 seconds would ring for 5 times before following the unanswered option in the rule that is active.
